Directing your Focus

9 01 2008

Directing your focused energy onto a specific desired outcome will expand that task. Simply put, whatever you focus on expands. Sounds simple right? Why don’t more traders apply this theory into market profitability? Many traders have a natural tendency to focus on what they don’t want, instead of what they do want. If you log all your trades you should have a compelling list composed of entry and exit reasons, improvements, and accomplishments. Many traders will spend more time and energy analyzing, criticising and depecting their losing trades than giving the proper attention towards what they really desire, profitable trading resulting with a consistently upwardly trending equity curve. They don’t give enough focused attention to their profitable trades.

Take the example of professional athletes. These athletes have been trained at an unconscious level to focus on what’s directing them towards their desired outcome. You don’t hear professional coaches saying, “don’t miss this foul shot”, or “don’t hit the ball in the sand trap”. These professionals understand how important it is to specifically focus on their intention.

Begin to spend more time and energy focusing on whats generating you the most trading profitability. Taking this same approach towards trading would surely increase your profitable trades.
